Cystic Fibrosis $500 Give away 2010

June 10, 2010 Bloggies by Administrator

Dr Lock locksmith is proud to sponsor the Cystic Firosis NSW Breathe Life Ball 2010. In addition to this has donated a prize to the value of $500 to spend in our online store, or alternatively, have $500 worth of security service in your residence or home. DrLock is a huge supporter of Cystic Fibrosis NSW, we continuously fundraiser and support this charity and will do well into the future. Dr Lock Locksmiths has continuously supported our community by doing work for such organisations Child flight and Westmead childrens hospital free of charge and will continue to do so. We are a family business who appreciate community is the fabric of every person.

We encourage people to attend the Breathe Life Ball, and support like wise events.

What is CF?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a recessive genetic condition. The gene involved in CF gives instructions for the cells to make a protein that controls the movement of salt in and out of cells.

This salt transport gene lies on chromosome 7. Everyone has two copies of chromosome 7 and therefore everyone has two copies of the salt transport gene. Scientists have called it the CFTR (Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Regulator) gene.

Here are some facts about CF:

*

CF is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children.

*

Symptoms can include poor weight gain, troublesome coughs, repeated chest infections, salty sweat and abnormal stools.

*

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects a number of organs in the body (especially the lungs and pancreas) by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus.

*

Repeated infections and blockages can cause irreversible lung damage and death. Mucus can also cause problems in the pancreas preventing the release of enzymes needed for the digestion of food. This means that people with CF can have problems with nutrition.

*

CF is an inherited condition. For a child to be born with CF both parents must be genetic carriers for CF. They do not have CF themselves. See Causes.

*

In Australia, all babies are screened at birth for CF.

* At present there is no cure for CF, but the faulty gene has been identified and doctors and scientists are working to find ways of repairing or replacing it. One of the main objectives of the CFA Research Trust is to fund this work.

* With today’s improved treatment most people with CF are able to lead reasonably normal and productive lives. A great amount of time is being directed towards finding new and improved ways of treating CF and of finally finding a cure.

Treatment

The CF gene was identified in 1989 and this has led to the development of a carrier test, improved treatment and better control of the disease.

At the moment every person who has CF must use intensive daily airway clearance techniques (see physiotherapy) to combat the build-up of mucus in the lungs. Many people with CF will also take up to 40 enzyme replacement tablets each day to aid digestion (see medication). They must also follow high energy diets with added vitamins and salt.

Excercise is also a very important part of keeping people with CF healthy as it prevents deterioration of the lungs and improves physical bulk and strength.

Regular visits to CF Clinics, hospitalisation and antibiotic treatment are common for people with CF.

Lets all give them a hand, if it was not for institutions likeThe Childrens Hospital at Westmead and Cystic Fibrosis NSW, cf and the life span of some of our young hopefuls would be greatly deminished. When it comes to helping organisations that keep our young kids alivewe at dr lock try to help and show support when ever possible. Over the last year we have sold merchindice, raised money, and again now offered a $500 gift voucher to the winning bidder of the Breathe Life Ball CF NSW 2010 . We will continue to raise money and support the cause.

We would like to encourage other companys to help and better our efforts. Remeber it is all for a good and life saving cause, and community is the people who surround you, for example your neighbour or your friend down the road, the old saying "I get by with a little help from my friends" is so true when you see the young people that are helped. All of the Dr Lock team will be attending the Breathe Life CF Ball 2010 and we would like to invite everyone as well.

Dr Lock Parramatta Locksmith

This is just a short note to all our Parramatta customers who use Dr Lock and are having troubles finding our Parramatta branch. Due to technical issues with Google Maps, our listing for our Parramatta Locksmith branch “Dr Lock Parramatta “ has been removed and does not appear all the time, this is due to issues with other competitors and Google maps not having any way to resolve any bogus issues.

Rest assured that our locksmiths are still at Campbell street and we are still located in Parramatta, and can still offer the same fast service our customers have come to expect and need. If you would like to help, you can continue to leave your kind reviews, when the Google map listing reappears.

Our team is working to resolve any bogus issues with this service. It is true we are only one of two locksmiths who are authentically located in Parramatta. Hopefully Google will reinstate the kind reviews that have gone missing.

This has been a very unfair decision from Google maps, hopefully there contributors will stop listing to the bogus complaints from our competitors as there is no truth to them as our loyal locksmith customers know.

We are located in Parramatta and we are not going anywhere. The truth will prevail.

Locked Out ? In Sydney

April 29, 2010 Bloggies by Administrator

Lockouts range from strange to disturbing. Our Westmead locksmith came across this one night !!

Ho hum.

“I’m not wearing any underwear. How about we split the cost?”

I found it difficult to argue with a woman who was not wearing any underwear. I would still require her to produce identification once inside her home. People would often be annoyed when I required this from such an obviously honest person, but as they found their ID it usually dawned on them that this was a good thing. For one thing, it proved that I was reputable. After you watch someone break into your home in Westmead Sydney with little if any damage or trouble, it’s nice to know they are a reputable person Like our locksmiths @ Dr Lock Westmead are,

On more than one occasion I was hired by neighbors or a landlord to gain entry to the residence of a person of advanced years who had not been seen for a period of time. Not knowing what one may find on the other side of a door makes it difficult to concentrate. The sight of a dead body stays with you a long time.We must insist on ID each time. The truth behind this story is . No Id No Entry ,Dead or not !!

When it comes to late nights there are a few things people do. One is stagger home the other is work out they have left their key inside and locked them self out! Last week one of our locksmiths from Westmead went to a unit late night to help a resident back into their home. Once on site he noticed there were 2 ambulances. It soon be came apparent the customer who has requested our help in Westmead had already tried to gain access to the unit, by climbing from one unit to the next. This was just after a brief storm. Of course the occupant slipped!! And yes got a broken leg, After breaking a leg they called Dr lock Westmead Locksmith and requested our locksmith service, Within 10 min they wee back inside their unit. The cost of this exercise was $165 & a broken leg. We urge all residents of Westmead to call Dr Lock first before attempting any dangerous maneuvers to gain entry if you are locked out. The real cost of the night to the resident will be felt for week or even months to come, A broken leg will take some time to heal, Lost time of work and the pain and suffering is not worth the risk compared to $165 . That’s keeping in mind that the injuries obtained were not worse, should the resident of broken his neck, they would of surely been of work for a lot longer. So we ask the residents of Westmead Sydney to keep Dr Lock Locksmith in mind when locking them self out. It’s a lot less painful!! And quicker the trip to the emergency room...

Finger Print Lock Install

April 15, 2010 Bloggies by Administrator

Hi there,

I’d like to have a fingerprint lock installed in my unit in NSW. On the fingerprintlock website I saw that they supply three types of such locks ranging from $350-$550.

My question is: Do you supply and install the same keys and how much it would cost me?

Kind regards

Hello,

Yes we do install finger print locks, We use different brands, Our brands we use are from reputable suppliers in Sydney, not from china, And the price to buy the lock is about the same $350 - 550 and then you will need the lock installed and tested and some times programmed. This is done a a labor rate charge per 1/2 hour.

Lost Sliding Door Key ?

April 15, 2010 Bloggies by Administrator

i have a sliding door but i lost the key,, can i undrill the lock then com to you make new keys.. if you can do it ,, please give me your address and i ll come to you,
thanks

Dr Lock - Hello, Yes you can un screw the lock off and take it into a locksmith shop, If the lock is locked you will need one of our locksmith to come and open it and make a key on the spot. The easy way is to call one of our locksmith to do the job for you, Its easier then finding a locksmith shop and easier then finding parking and having to fight the traffic as well. You can call us to make a time to have one of out locksmith attend your place and do the job or you can look up your local locksmith shop. We do not have a locksmith shop at this time, Only mobile locksmith service. You will probably have to leave the lock with them for a few hours if you use a locksmith shop..

Thanks ....
